About this campaign

Boston Terrier Rescue of Florida, Inc. just pulled 16 Boston Terriers from a breeding situation. We hired a mobile veterinarian and our trainer to go to the breeder’s property with our volunteers to do initial assessments. The dogs are now on their way to foster homes.

WHAT WE KNOW SO FAR: Their ages and health issues vary. Some have eye problems and some have skin issues. 4 appear to have mammary tumors. All are missing at least some teeth from chewing on chicken wire and the wood siding of the individual pens they were kept in and will need dentals to deal with exposed roots. 4 have heart murmurs, including 1 with a grade 6 of 6 even though he appears to be only about two years old. 2 are very weak due to health issues or malnutrition after to being kept with another dog who apparently feasted on all of the food that was provided for both dogs.

As evidenced by the rescue of the Jackson 16, the role of rescue is far more than just acting as a dog adoption agency. It is truly about saving Boston Terriers in need who are lost, abandoned, or surrendered regardless of age, health, or adoptability. Our goal is to nourish each Boston Terrier back to emotional and physical health by providing medical care and behavioral training in an environment that fosters trust and alleviates fear. The medical expenses alone each year for our permanent foster dogs and the medically needed dogs we take in mean that we are constantly looking for ways to raise money so that we won't have to turn our backs on the ones who need us the most. Together we can make a difference is so many lives!
